I added the music for the last episode to the music guide and new episode stills for the episode. [17] 2.25 The Goodbye Gossip Girl Questions: I just finished watching the Gossip Girl finale, and it was awesome. My question for you is about Georgina: At the end of the episode she announced she was going to be Blair’s roommate at NYU — strongly implying that she would be a presence, if not a regular character, in season 3. But Michelle Trachtenberg is in NBC’s new fall drama, Mercy. What does this mean about Georgina and Gossip Girl? –Cory Ausiello: It means producers thought ahead and made sure Trachtenberg negotiated a three-episode Gossip Girl “out” in her Mercy contract. You didn’t really think the Georgina-Blair roommate thing would last longer than that, did you? |

That new approach to how people consume TV — and how advertisers buy commercial time on programs — has been a major subject of discussion during the upfront week in New York. The event derives its name from the efforts by TV executives to sell commercials before the start of the new season. One broadcast network, CW, is devoting its promotional campaign for the 2009-10 season to the changing nature of TV viewership. The campaign will carry the theme “TV to talk about,” a line that will change from ad to ad to include iterations like “TV to text about,” “blog about,” “chat about” and even “tweet about.” “The bulk of people do watch on TV, but they talk about it online and on their phones, and in instant messaging,” said Rick Haskins, executive vice president for marketing and brand strategy at CW, which is owned by the CBS Corporation and Time Warner. The theme of the campaign also reflects how successful CW executives have been in scheduling series like “Gossip Girl” that generate some of the most pervasive buzz for any new prime-time shows — even if not they do not attract commensurately outsize audiences. To help develop the campaign, the network, which presents its 2009-10 lineup to advertisers and agencies Thursday morning, sent researchers into viewers’ homes last fall, Mr. Haskins said, in markets like St. Louis, Atlanta and Kansas City, Mo. “It was fascinating to me,” he recalled, describing one aha! moment: “Two people on a couch would be watching ‘Gossip Girl’ and they’d be texting each other about the show. I’d say, ‘You’re sitting next to each other.’ And they’d say, ‘Who’s that old guy?’ ” The campaign was created internally at CW and with the help of two agencies, 72 and Sunny and Troika. The ads, scheduled to start appearing in September, will feature returning CW series like “Gossip Girl,” “One Tree Hill,” “90210” and “Supernatural” as well as newcomers like “The Beautiful Life.” |

According to Ausiello the Gossip Girl spin-off is officially dead. It’s official! Chace Crawford will star in the Footloose remake, Paramount Pictures confirms to Usmagazine.com exclusively. “Chace Crawford will play the lead role of Ren McCormack in the film Footloose,” Paramount told Us Tuesday. The news is expected to be officially announced to trade publications Wednesday morning. The actor has been considering the part for some time but had yet to officially sign until this week. He had been in contract negotiations and was struggling to make filming work around his Gossip Girl schedule, which is also due to start shooting its third season, a source told Us. Crawford was offered the lead role of small town bad boy Ren — portrayed in the 1984 original by Kevin Bacon — after Zac Efron dropped out of the project in March. |

from WWK Gossip Girl: If you caught tonight’s Gossip Girl, you might be wondering if Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) and Carter Baizen (Leighton Meester’s real-life boyfriend Sebastian Stan) are joining the cast as regulars next season. While it certainly looks that way in the finale, sources tell us they aren’t signed to full-time gigs for next year, and of course, Michelle T’s first obligation is to her new NBC series, Mercy. We caught up with her at the NBC “Infront” luncheon in L.A. and she told us exclusively, “It’s definitely a cliffhanger, and obviously very exciting, and obviously one can assume from that dialogue being spoken that there are many more crazy things to come for Georgina.” The latest candids of Chace Crawford have been added to the gallery! |

Question: Could you please give us some juicy scoop on the Gossip Girl finale? It would really make my day. –Kari Ausiello: One of the cliffhangers involves Georgina … and Dan, and another Blair and Chuck. Actually, the latter is less a cliffhanger and more a itisaboutfreakingtime. (Real word. No lie. Look it up if you don’t believe me!) |

You made a potentially sarcastic remark about Gossip Girl’s Serena and Nate happening. I need to know if there is anything to that remark, because I am more hopeful than I should be about Serenate finding their way back together. Please help! — Megan MICKEY: Hope springs eternal, Megan! I will downgrade my previous sarcastic remark to say that the possibility of Serenate is alive and well through the end of the season. But Serena’s season-finale suitor is someone entirely different — and surprising. If it’s a happy ending you’re looking for, forget it. Though Blair hears some magic words, her fall is looking increasingly shrouded in dread. Welcome to NYU B. A BTS TVGuide article (credit to burstoflight) |

‘Gossip Girl’ Star Leighton Meester Is Bummed She Missed No Doubt. ‘They performed in L.A. while I was working in New York,’ actress says. Less than a week after appearing live on “American Idol,” No Doubt paid a visit on Monday night to the kids on “Gossip Girl.” But Gwen Stefani and her band didn’t play for any of the students at Constance Billard or St. Jude’s. Instead, the California rockers took part in a flashback episode featuring a young version of Lily van der Woodsen, the mother of rich girl Serena (Blake Lively). That plot twist meant Leighton Meester didn’t get to catch No Doubt in character as queen bee Blair Waldorf, nor while she was just hanging out on set. In fact, for a while, Meester wasn’t even aware the band was making a “GG” cameo appearance. “You wanna know something?” Meester told MTV News while on the set of the music video for her collaboration with Cobra Starship. “I didn’t even get to see No Doubt, and I didn’t even know that they were gonna be on. Somebody told me that they were coming on my show. And they performed in L.A. while I was working in New York. That’s what happened!” On Monday night’s episode, No Doubt appeared as an ’80s band called Snowed Out, who performed for young Lily and friends at a club in Los Angeles. The episode has been positioned as a possible pilot episode for a “GG” spinoff. No Doubt’s cameo has been part of a re-emergence for the band after several years on the sideline. They’re set to begin a North American tour later this month. So while Meester was disappointed that she didn’t get to check out No Doubt on set, she’ll certainly have the opportunity to take in Stefani’s band at some point in the future. “I love her,” Meester said. “And I love No Doubt. That was one of the first albums I had, and I still know every word. I think she’s awesome, and the music they make is great. I really love that style, too, because it’s a woman singing, and it’s not totally pop. It’s really fun and very strong and cool.” Penn in 2 Magazine – preview scans |
