[14] Leighton Meester arrives at the Miami International airport Jessica Szohr Plays it Cool by Lauren Waterman Every so often, someone will stop Jessica Szohr on the street to tell her that she looks “just like” Vanessa from Gossip Girl. When they do, the actress usually responds with a friendly, “I get that.” (Slightly tougher to take are the clueless types who say she resembles a certain TV star—only “cuter.” Because, really, she wonders, “what is that supposed to mean?”) A little confusion, though, is understandable: When the 24-year-old turns up for her Teen Vogue interview at a très chic West Village gastro-pub, she’s swaddled in sweaters. Her thick, dark hair is pulled into a ponytail and she’s wearing very little makeup. She’s beautiful, to be sure, but she lacks the bleached-blonde, high-gloss, look-at-me exterior so common among young female celebrities. |

The Hoidays are finally over! Now it’s time to update again, Taylor Momsen Just Wants To Be Taken Seriously! Have You Ever Felt Like She Does? Are you tired of everyone telling you you’re too young to be taking seriously? Taylor Momsen says she’s sick of people reminding her that she’s only 16! The Gossip Girl actress and rocker told Seventeen magazine, “I think people don’t really take me seriously because I’m 16. And they think most 16-year-olds don’t know what they want to do. But I actually really do, because I’ve been thinking about it since I was [two-years-old].” And just like most teenagers, Taylor admits, “I am angsty. I’ll be angsty until I’m 80 years old. I think that keeps things fresh. But I always think angst is such a derogatory word toward teenagers. It just means you’re figuring s*** out, and I don’t know why that’s a negative thing.” As the lead singer of her band The Pretty Wreckless (Isn’t it “The Pretty Reckless”?), Taylor admits, “I love working. I’m a workaholic, and no one believes it. I’m in the recording studio until three in the morning.” Taylor, we’ve all been there! Have you ever worked hard to live your dream, only to have people tell you that you’re too young to be taken seriously? —Corynne Steindler source: HollywoodLife.com |

In a decade when it has become daily ritual to witness our most famous, talented, and beautiful people in their gym sweats and flip flops at Starbucks, unaware of the long-lensed sniper in the bushes capturing them in exactly the angle of light and time of day that is maximally unflattering, we thought it’d be fitting to end the ’00s with a glorious, glamorous look back at the 20 most beautiful people that have graced the pages of our magazine in the past 10 years. Sure, in an ideal world beauty would be nakedly apparent. But it doesn’t hurt to have makeup, hair, wardrobe, and a talented, sympathetic photographer. And, in the tradition of this magazine, we encouraged them to speak freely—because the beautiful and famous are just dying to tell you something you didn’t know about them. CHACE CRAWFORD In some ways, he’s a lot like Nate Archibald—a young, rich, extremely good-looking guy living in New York. And soon he’ll be tossing his flawless man-bangs about in the upcoming Footloose remake. The Texas-bred pretty boy is well on the path to American teen idolhood. CHRISTOPHER BOLLEN: Dallas. Oh, man. Are you really close to your parents? CHACE CRAWFORD: Yes, superclose. They were really young when they had me. You know, it’s a southern thing. They had me when they were like 21 or 22. My dad was going through med school while my mom was pregnant with my sister. So they’re still young now. I talk to my dad at least every other day. They’ve still got a little hipness left in them. I took my mom out last night. She said, “I want to know what all of the fuss is about.” BOLLEN: Where did you take her? CRAWFORD: Well, one of my buddies runs Butter, so he said, “Take her down here. Take her to a nice meal.” I hadn’t been there in ages, but she knew it because it’s been on our show. She was like, “Oh, show me one of those little Gossip Girl places!” I’m like, “All right, if we must.” I also took her out to some local bars that we normally go to. |

Costume designer Eric Daman SHOWS US fashion trends for your closet — and the show — in 2010 ‘Clothes make the man,” said Mark Twain. “Naked people have little or no influence on society.” Oh if the literary genius could see Blair and Serena now, climbing their way up the Upper East Side social ladder one couture-clad step at a time. Those who tune in to “Gossip Girl” on Monday nights do so not only for a “look inside the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite” and their feisty threesomes and untold family secrets, but also for the fashion. Ah, the fashion! The man responsible for clothing the cast — which usually amounts to about 80 costumes an episode — is Eric Daman, head costume designer and stylist extraordinaire, who’s espousing his credo in the new style book “You Know You Want It” (Clarkson Potter, $29.99), out now. Elizabeth Lippman “It’s a fantasyland to have fun in,” says Daman of the drama series. And so is the show’s wardrobe closet. Tucked away inside a warehouse studio on a bleak block in industrial Long Island City are walls of bags (organized by color), boxes of shoes (organized by size) and baskets of headbands (for Blair!), bow ties (for Chuck!) and drawers of tights, gloves and everything in between. It’s Bendel’s. It’s Bloomie’s. It’s that cute boutique down on your corner. And it’s absolute heaven. Daman invited The Post into the most coveted dressing room in town to talk trends for the new year. How to turn those fleeting fads into timeless fashion, however, is up to you. “Instead of compiling your list of perfect must-haves solely from the mannequins in shop windows,” he says in the book, “see what experiences you have had that make you unique, and then incorporate them into your personal style.” Still, a girl needs a little guidance and Daman’s eager to give it. The “it” being all that’s haute under the style sun. Til then, XOXO. source: NYPost |
